Eco-Commons

The first phase of the Eco-Commons, part of Georgia Tech's Landscape Master Plan, was implemented in conjunction with the Engineered Biosystems Building.  The Eco-Commons plan focuses on displaying sustainable stormwater management practices, by retaining runoff and allowing it to percolate into the soil, instead of discharging it into the city sewer.  This is accomplished through the use of rain gardens, infiltration cells, bio retention areas, interconnected cisterns, and an increase in tree canopy coverage to mitigate stormwater runoff.
